Its time to do something nice for your self

At this time of year we can all start to feel overwhelmed and exhausted. The short days and the long, dark, cold nights with the added pressures of the festive season can start to weigh heavy on us all. On top of all this you or your partner may be under the weather with a cold or flu.

It is at this time of year it is particularly important to focus on your self care, and make sure you make time to do something nice for yourself.

Here are some suggestions that always make me fell pampered:

  • Have a lovely hot soak in a scented bubble bath (you could even light some scented candles-bliss, and have a candle lit bath)
  • file & paint your finger nails and apply lashings of hand cream
  • curl up in your PJs and bathrobe and watch a humourous festive film-my personal favourites are chick flicks-I love Bridget Jones’ Diary at this time of year
  • read a good book
  • treat yourself to a magazine and sit down with a cuppa and enjoy
  • have a date night at home-set the table nicely ,put on some romantic music, light candles, turn the lights down.

FAQ-What exactly is ovulation & how do urine LH ovulation tests work ?

 Access Diagnostics fertility

Thought it may be helpful to some readers to run over the basics of ovulation and when the most fertilie time occurs.

Ovulation is the release of an egg from the ovary. The egg then passes into the fallopian tube where it is ready to be fertilised. In order for pregnancy to occur, the egg must be fertilized by sperm within 24 hours after its release.

Immediately prior to ovulation , the body produces a large amount of luteinizing hormone (LH) ,which triggers the release of the ripe egg from the ovary.

This LH surge usuallly takes place in the middle of the menstrual cycle.

Ovulation Prediction Tests help you to predict the time of ovulation & therefore peak fertility.

It is during this fertile time that pregnancy is most likely to occur.

The ovulation prediction test detects the LH surge in urine, signalling that ovulation is likely to occur in the next 24-36 hours

Why infertility makes Christmas a tough time of year

Sarah Holland

I’m always aware at this time of year how it must feel for someone who isn’t yet a mother or father but would dearly love to be. The festive season is so focused around children and families that you may feel lonely and at times excluded. At what should be one of the happiest times of the year, those struggling with infertility are left feeling sad and frustrated.

Parties and family gatherings can be difficult to face, and you may find that it’s at these occasions that people choose to ask “so, when are you going to have a baby?”. Add to that the fact that more and more people seem to be “only buying presents for the children this year” or tell you “Christmas is all about children really” and you couldn’t be blamed for wanting to run away from the festivities.

However with the right support and techniques there is a way that you can reduce the sadness and stress that you’re feeling, and bring back some magic into the celebrations for you and your loved ones.

Last year I made a video using the stress-busting technique EFT to help with the stress that Christmas brings to those challenged with fertility issues. Many told me it helped them through the festive season and brought back some joy and happiness for them. I hope it helps you too!

And this year I’m offering something very special that I want to be available to every single person who is trying to conceive through fertility issues and would like some nurturing support during the festive season and into the New Year. With this support I’d not only love to help you rediscover peace and joy this Christmas, but also feel hopeful and positive that 2012 will be the year that you have your baby.

Click here to find out more and how this support can cost you as little as $1!

I look forward to supporting you at this special time of year, and I wish you love, health and happiness for 2012.

Using a digital thermometers for basal temperature monitoring fertility

BBT Digital Thermometer Fertility

Question

How do you use a digital thermometer to predict your fertile time ?

Answer

Your basal body temperature is your resting body temperature on waking 1st thing in the morning ie before you get up or move about

By measuring your basal temperature every morning you can pinpoint & later predict ovulation.

Measuring basal body temperature or BBT can be a way for women to pinpoint their fertile time. This is beacause the basal temperature increases by between 0.5 and 1 degree fahrenheit (a quarter  to a half degree centigrade) at ovulation. The temperature then remains elevated until just before menstruation commences.

Interestingly if a pregnancy occurs the BBT remains elevated for approx the first 3 months, so this can be an early sign of pregnancy.

The temperature should be taken immediately upon waking and recorded on a chart (a BBT chart is ideal)

If this is done over several months a characteristic pattern emerges that allows a woman to predict as well as pinpoint ovulation.
